Hi, I'm Dom.

At my core, I'm a practical operator. I help leaders build teams that perform. Not in a "guru on a stage" way. More like, "let's roll up our sleeves together" kind of way.

    About Me

I'm Dominic Zappia — most people call me Dom. I've been fortunate to have had meaningful professional opportunities leading teams, building a company that sold to private equity, and writing a book. I learned what to do from some great leaders, and what not to do from others.

I've made so many mistakes along the way. I've made bad hires, held onto the wrong people for too long, and often confused being busy with being effective. I've had seasons where I've felt like a fraud as a leader.

But, I've also learned a lot along the way. Usually, by getting things wrong first. The lessons that stuck came from real experience. I think that's what makes them worth sharing and I hope to help others learn from my mistakes.

3 things I like: Mexican food, peanut butter, and the color orange

3 things I don't: Whistling, repetitive pen clicking, and the noise of Cheez-It bags on flights (you don't need to turn the bag inside out to lick it!)

    Things I Believe

    Perseverance matters more than talent

    Hope is not a strategy

    Teams win championships, not individuals

It's not the critic who counts...get in the arena! - Teddy Roosevelt

People want clarity, tools, and autonomy

    Culture is what you tolerate

    I Aspire To...

Be the husband Jenny deserves; patient, loyal, dependable, and kind.

Be the step-dad the kids are proud to have in their life. Someone who shows up, supports them, and helps them become who they're meant to be.

Follow Jesus and serve others. Live with love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Be the kind of friend who even though he doesn't always stay in touch like he should, is there when it matters most.

Have my work to matter deeply to me, but never allow it to become my "why."

Give myself grace knowing I'm not always these things, but in my heart I know I give my best.
